Generation MomMe is a maternal health education and community-based organization dedicated to supporting families throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. Founded by Sunday Miller, a mother, Postpartum Doula, Community Health Worker, and Public Health Educator. Generation MomMe was created from a passion for improving maternal health outcomes and ensuring families have access to the education, support, and resources they need to thrive.

We believe that healthy starts begin with knowledge, connection, and community. As a trusted connector between families, healthcare providers, and community resources, we help bridge gaps in care by empowering families to make informed decisions and access the support systems available to them. Our work is rooted in the belief that every family deserves to feel supported, educated, and empowered throughout their maternal health journey.

What We Do

Generation MomMe advances maternal and family health through education, outreach, resource navigation, and workforce development. We support families during pregnancy and postpartum by providing evidence-informed education, community connections, and referrals to local services that promote healthy outcomes for both parents and babies.

In addition to serving families, we strengthen the maternal health workforce by providing training and professional development opportunities for Community Health Workers (CHWs) and other public health professionals. Through our Maternal Health CHW curriculum, workshops, and continuing education programs, we equip frontline professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver trauma-informed, strengths-based, and family-centered care.

Our Story

.

Our story began in 2020 following the founder’s own complicated birth experiences. Through that journey, she quickly recognized gaps within the healthcare system and became committed to being part of the solution for other families who may face adverse maternal health outcomes. With nearly 80% of maternal morbidity considered preventable, she began working to create meaningful change in her community.

What started as a postpartum doula service supporting families at the community level soon evolved into deeper public health engagement. After becoming trained as a Community Health Worker, she continued to strengthen her roots in community-based care and education.

Today, Generation MomMe continues to make an impact across Virginia by providing educational programs and training for public health professionals who serve on the front lines of maternal and child health.
